start and end points how to set them?

i'm coming from using the roland 505 sample where all you had to do was set recording volume and bpms and the 505 would "trim" the loop automatically, surely the mpc 2000xl has a simular feature? thanx in advance

No, has to be done by hand.

Go to mode-trim. Your samples will be displayed on the top, where you can scroll through to whichever one you're trimming up. Scroll down with the cursor to the start point and/or end point to trim it. If you press shift with the cursor you can fine it tune like a mutha....

xl manual page 99 - 100. Not automatic.

After you've trimmed your sound in the loop screen, highlight sample then go to edit-timestreach. Select bpm In the lower left corner, open window. Just have a good idea of what your original sample tempo is because you'll have to enter it.

I obviously read that question wrong. Sorry.
BTW: Being able to set your own loop points is kinda one the perks of the mpc. Don't be lazy yo.
