[Help] 4 defective drumpads and 1 defective Cursor Key

My English isn't very good, so I hope you all understand me. I bought a MPC2000XL in good condition, but 4 drum pads don't work. I knew that when I bought it. Also the right cursor button doesn't allways do what he's supposed to do , sometimes the button works (not very good but it works) and sometimes it don't.

Has someone else had these problems? Is it cheaper to make is youself instead of sending it to Akai (what are the cost for that.) Because the plate under the drumpads is easy to replace. But where can I buy that plate (if that's how you call it.)
That right cursos key is a whole other story, I don't know how to make that. Can I go with that to a technician.

I hope someone can help me.

whats up. about the actual drumpads, im not too sure how to fix that. Under the rubber pads, there are little sensors, maybe those are broken. Your right though, i guess it could be called a plate. You might wanna replace that.


as far as the cursor button, take of the cover to your mpc and see if that plastic button is positioned properly under the case to register that your pressing the button. My cursor was messed up, but once i took it apart to paint the buttons, and put it back together, its all good now.

well thank's for the complement. Your right the sensors are broken, I have checked the cursor button and that all good, I just doens't work anymore.

I'd look into having it serviced..... you might be able to do it yourself, but you might end up damaging something else.

but in the meantime, you have 12 pads that still work, so you should be able bang out some beats.

you might want to try adjusting the ribbon cable that connects from the main board to the pads, had a similar problem in the past, re-alligning the ribbon cable solved it

yeah I just had this problem I was trippin wild out on everybody/thought someone dropped my @#*!
But I opened up my MPC and touched the black bottom row sensors and BOOM BOOM BAP ---SHE LIVES AGAIN

one of my pads sometimes doesnt work the line in the ribbon that attached to that pad
was touching a tube soldered to the circuit board. on the line it kinda turned black i had to lift it i put the top of a qtip under the ribbon to lift it off the tube. Its still in there holding it up.

If all else fails if you have a drummachine or controller keyboard you can still use those pads just assign sounds then use note #'s then play the pads on the drummachine to control sounds in the mpc.

thats what i would do if i were you is use a controller keyboard thru midi instead of your pads still velocity sensitive i sometime do that any way because i can access pad bank a,b,c at the same time like a is fill with drum hits b c samples i can access at my finger tips m samples ill load a shit load of samples to see what sounds good together so i could play a bassline sample on pad bank b and another sample in pad bank c at the same time just to see how they sound together .
