quantizing question.. help me clear some things up

sup all,
ok i know the theory behind quantizing and swing but want to know if when laying down a drum track do you apply different quantizing to the kik,snr, and hats..
for example.
do you use
1/16 on the kik w/ 60% swing
1/8 on the snare w/ 70% swing
1/32 on the hats w/ 75% swing

or do you use 1/16 for all 3, kik,snr, and hat..
do you also use the same swing function??

How am I going to tell YOU how to quantize YOUR drums on YOUR track?

depends on the beat, depends on the drum kit, depends on the samples playing with it, depends on the mood, depends on the user.

Every beat is different, every person's personal style is different. I have some beats where they all have the same swing and quantize, some where they are all different, some where I turn quantize off and feel the funk live.

So, like he said...its personal preference. Why dont you try doing it different ways and see which one YOU like better.

It really is a personal pref... There's no standard. You do what you feel and keep it like that if it suites you, or if you are feeling frisky you try out different things and get ecstatic with it.

It's an open forum, can reply to whatever.
