if you get the exm 128 it comes with instructions and pictures on how to install it. I'm guessing that is not what you have, or plan on getting but I thought I would throw that out there. Maybe some one who still has the instructions could scan it and post it somewhere.

hahaha apparently so.

I got the kingston ram sitting here for me just waiting for my 1k to come in. I had the 1k before so I know how to install it. It's madd simple!

As for the dude asking if it's crucial....only if you want more sample time. I believe it's around 12 minutes stereo and 24 minutes mono with 128 mb ram installed, or something close to that anyways.

Yeah I think it's free cause akai probably isn't selling any thanks to this forum.

BBBUUUWWWWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA.

Serves those b!tchez right for making that ram so damn expensive. They probably got a lot of them sh!tz sitting in the warehouse with no hope of selling em, so why not give em away for free as added incentive for mufluckaz to drop their loot on a brand new one instead of getting it used, and akai sees no money from it.

hahahahahah!!!

AKAI are idiots cause it doesnt take a genius to work out that you can buy normal pc ram, however they should have never tried that cheap periphial trick that nintendo and sega used to do years ago. anyone notice the conncectiion?

Pardon me for being ignorant. Just bought the 1000. So you can use regular pc ram rather than paying $100+ for the Akai ram? What kind of pc ram would you suggest? What about the memory cards? Is there an alternative that is more cost efficient?

Other than buying regular RAM from a computer store, are there any other unauthorized upgrades anyone knows about?

do a search on the forum about what RAM to get. I have an extensive guide. or if u look hard enough u can see my link saying RAM info! in my siggy!

unauthorised upgrades? no such thing! no where does it say u have to use AKAI ram and not too is unauthorised. its just them trying to bump u!

anyway there modifications u can do in terms of looks (cosmetics) and thats about it really, unless u know how to get a HDD in it!
