How do you...

decide what your are going to add to a beat (if it needs more stuff)?

I'm asking this question because every time I make a chopped/looped beat, I never know what else to add...

I usually just play with stuff and whatever sounds like it fits I add.

Whatever you feel will go nicely with it. Be a producer.

a lot of times man ill just get stuck on a part of the beat and start doing something else, like reading stuff or playin a game or something..or even just listening to it and just let it play. then for some reason ill start hearing sounds thats not in the beat. like it'll sound like an instrument is there that isnt there.....and i've gotten a lot of ideas that way. ill hear something in the beat that aint there, and i'll find a good instrument and play it out how I thought I heard it.......
