60 prob.

I put in a disk and loaded some shit I did the other day. It was an intro to a beat I was going to do.

I played the short sequence I had then stopped it and left the 60 on and just started listening to some records and shit. Then all the sudden I hear this little noises coming from the 60. Then the sounds on the pads (only 3 at that point) started playing without pressing the pads at all and the sequence wasn't playing. It was really low too. I turned my gain all the way up on my mixer and I could hear it.

What the **** could be wrong? I know that ain't normal?

weird? how long was it left on for? do you power it down everynight?

when stuff like that happens, save and reboot, check to see how hot it is. I've never had that happen, but that's what I would do.

I've been leaving it on for longer periods of time lately. Maybe I should leave it off for a while and not **** with it?

It plays the whole sound on A1 and then right at the end of it it will start playing A2 and so on. Then when it plays all the sounds there's some weird little noises coming from it then it will randomly start again.

I just tried loading everything the same way and leaving it to see if it happens and it didn't happen till after I played and stopped the sequence.

Could it have something to do with wires/cables and positioning of all that? Something dirty/loose on the inside?

SOunds like the pad sensors are having some issues. Could be something else. but unplug it and make sure all ribbon connectors are good, make sure there's nothing loose inside, and no moisture is present.

Maybe even clean the pad sensors. Ive never had them fail so I don;t know, but that could be a symptom of it. That's all I can think of and I am just best guessing it. If it keeps happening and you can't sort it out a tech is your best option.

I have a feeling it's just dirty. On the 60II you have to take that front panel part off to clean the pads right?

**** I don't have one of those things whatever they're called to unscrew those. Gotta go get one.

get the dissasembly instructions from the roger linn site, it's the PDF that's for installing the upgrades on the Mk II. I don;t think you'll need a hex screw.

Sounds to ME like you been neglecting your 60 so the pads dun taken to 'Touching THEMSELVES'....Oooooh....baaaaby!

Ok...so this wasn't so helpful....(But it might be true....hehehehe)

I opened it up and the pad shit is connected to the top so I guess I do need to take off that top cover on the front.

But could a bad disk or file cause some kind of problem like that? I loaded a different beat on a different disk I did and nothing like those noises and stuff happened.

Sometimes if the 60 gets midi data when it's loading it will mess up the sounds. (don;t hit pads while disks are loading.

You should get at the pads from the bottom, no need to remove the top panel, there are screws behind the pads that need to come off whether the top panel is in or not IIRC.

Really? I'm scared I'm going to screw something up if I start unscrewing boards out of the inside. I figured I'd be able to do it from the top easier. I guess I'll check it out.

nah easier from the bottom you'll have to get those boards out to get to the pads anyway.

If you take it slow you should be able to check everything, just take a good look at how stuff is connected and what screws connect to what you should be fine.

Haven't gotten around to cleaning the pads yet. I have loaded a bunch of other disks though and this problem doesn't happen when anything else is loaded except for the one thing I was working on before. It's weird. I think I'm just going to have to resample the three sounds and toss that disk out. I really think that's the problem.
