I had a SP 202 does that count...Errr.. Probably not. It was cool though man, you could put some batteries in it and take around sampling stuff. I took mine on the bus a few times in L.A. Once I took it to the beach which was cool too. I traded it in for a dj mixer. The mixer was wack but I kept it anyway.

Real tight man.... like always.
Maybe you should layer the kick you with another that is more thick. The kick you have sounds a little light.

sounds dope!
Yo a 303 question/ When you are playing back a sample from the pad-- can you adjust the start time of the sample as the pad is being triggered?

By d-man Wed Jun 15, 2005 7:47 pm
yeah sampie you can man. The pads on 303 are nice but sample editing and sequencing is clumsy i gotta admit. Its better to edit samples in a software package and then send the sample through smartcard to the 303. I had a 303 but like i said the sequencing was too clumsy for me and there was no song mode so patterns had to be switched in real time but i managed to make some dope beats regardless. I suppose a good seq controling the 303 would make it better plus you got a lotta sample time with the 303 too if you use a 64mb or 128mb smart card .

I had a 303 for a bit, the only thing I found fusstrating was I didn't get the hang of the trimming so I sold it too a mate.

I was a thinking of getting but they're too expensive, they even put the price of brand new ones up by £50!!! :(

I'm going to kill Madlib if I see him

Is there anybody who has some beat made on the sp-303 only ? I know One posted a little sketch in the off-topic some tiome ago. The reason I'm asking is that i'm considering to get me an sp-303 to take on hollidays, just in case I feel the craving do make a beat. Is the sequencer completely shit to use or is it just less flexible than the mpc. I know the specs of the machine (read the manual a few times) but it's hard to get a good opinion without hearing some results.

I'd like to hear some info on the SP-303 versus the Zoom SampleTrak ST224. The Zoom is amazing too and the only advantage the 303 appears to have is 44.1KHz sampling. The sampletrak does 32, 16 and 8 KHz though... and the effects are on-point.

The Zoom is $100. I don't think anyone needs an SP303 when they're like more than double the Zoom price for the same or less features.

actually the zoom sampletrak sounds dope as hell, but the one thing that i dont like about it is that you cant really sequence it from another sequencer. Mainly because the samples default to gate mode so they cant be properly triggered by an external sequencer.

the seq is not that flexible but for putting loops on its cool but there is no song mode so patterns can not be chained together to create a song. i'll have to post up some 303 beats man when i have time i made about 25beats when i had that thing for a few months. It just takes an element of skill like any other machine to use ,if you wanna do those mf doom sounding madvillan stuff its cool like taking the quantise off to program drums its good.
