i'm fairly competent using my mpc1000 and i know rules are no basis for creativity, but when I play people my beats, they're always telling me that there's hihats missing, or there isn't a snare.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a website of information out there which talks about the technical specifications of a standard hiphop beat. eg, what comes in at each beat of the bar.

Thanks.

the thing is there aint no specific beat. suppose a simple beat could be you holdin down the note repeat button on a hi hat for four bars then filling every bar with one snare and building the kick around the snare. Have you got any songs to show what people mean about you not putting in a hi hat or a snare in the rite place??? cant think of a website but if you just listen to loads of hiphop and just try and work out where does the snare come in or how long does the hi hat go on for and if it changes during the bridge or chorus's. hope that helps
