Just bought the 1000. I want to upgrade the internal memory to max it out and I read in another post that you can use pc ram. Is this true? If so, what would be the best time of pc ram to use? Also, can you use pretty much any compact flash card on the market or do you have to use one specifically designed for the 1000?

This has been covered extensively http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=26775&highlight=ram

I upgraded this weekend and I initially got generic CL3 SO-DIMM RAM which did not work. I exchanged it for the Kingston RAM and all is good.

I got the San-Disk 2GB CF card which works perfectly. I don't think the 1k is as picky about the CF card as it is the RAM.

Thanks, bro. That's exactly what I needed to know. I found another post in here about the ram and they suggested that I buy the 256k ram since the MPC will only utilize one side of the ram...is that what you did?

the ram will be checked thoroughly before usage, while a CF card only needs to suceed in being formatted, there may be glaring errors on the card waiting to happen.

i bought generic ram and was fine.

Thanks. I have another question...what or why would you use the resample function on the 1k? I guess I am asking what this function does. :?

resample samples the sound being made by the 1K. so you can create your own samples or variations of samples.

Thanks...I went on a little hunt thru the past threads and found your post on page 4...really helpful....The Kingston joints are a little costly, but I found one local here in ATL for $40. BTW check out the web site in my sig...we're about to do another Production workshop. What we do is choose a song and everyone downloads it, then chops it up and does what they do...then we post all the beats on the forum....and everyone kinda critiques eachother in a good way.
