How many samples????

Hey all,
Sorry for the newbie question but...

I currently own a Roland sp-808, and I'm able to have a total of 1024 sampled pads (16 pads x 64 banks). I'm now ready to upgrade to a MPC1000. However, I have one major question. How many pad banks are there in total?

I've read the users manual, and from what I understand, there seems to only be 4 banks of 16 (64 in all). Is that it? 64 samples?

I will be using the unit to trigger live samples (one at a time), and I need multiple banks. Hopefully I can do it with the MPC1000!!!!

only 64 samples.... but u can have alot of programs with different samples (64 sounds per program) as well, so the only limit is the RAM, how many samples can you hold in ram. this depends on how long ya samps are. in stereo its 12mins or so 24 in mono. so do the math.

My samples are all short... So I suppose that wouldn't be a problem

One more question: Is there a latency between changing programs and loading the new samples?

max is 24 programs (of 64 samples/pads each).
haven't run out yet, but if I needed more, i would load the rest from the card while playing a md or something. it loads really fast.

no latency while switching programs. anyway any track can be assigned to any program. very flexible.

no because once you have all of your programs loaded on the mpc, the only time it takes to change from one to the other is how fast you can move your hand and fingers. once you have your programs with all of your samples in the mpc, its in there. there is no loading time to think about.
