MIDI PROBLEM

LAst night i went home and tried to use this midi for the first time and I did everything I've read here at the FORUM,but bad results;ive always recorded through analog inputs

I was trying to record through midi /mpc the slave /boss dr groove master
after i hit record on the mpc and played the tune from the boss machine
after the recording i hit playback and no sound-- so i then loaded one of my programs in the mpc and some funnys*** happend my drums had like a decay effect from somewhere --Some body SCHOOL ME!

Can you be more specific in what you are trying to achieve please. I dont get what u are trying to do.

Are you trying to have the MPC as master and Boss as Slave.

I have lots of beats on my old machines and want to re-do them on the mpc ![/b]

ya better get to sampling... or unless u just want the MPC to Sequence it.... take out ya BOSS manual also... and see how to set it as the Slave

I'VE LOOKED EVERYWHERE CAN"T FIND THE MANUAL

mpc midi in -> boss midi out
mpc midi out -> boss midi in

set the track to the correct MIDI channel your working on.

audio does not travel through midi cables.
midi is control data not sound.

each peice of gear STILL neds to have it analog outs routed to a mixer/preamp/recvr/something.

mpc the slave
analog outs need to go to a mixer

boss dr groove master
analog needs to go to a mixer
then mixer goes to a audio recorder.

What is your complete setup?
mixer?
soundcard?
pc/mac/hardware multitrack?

What, if we are to help you with the midi and routing you need to provide specific info on your setup.

YEAH I HAD THAT SET UP/ MPC.AS SLAVE AND BOSS AS MASTER WITH THE ANALOG PLUG IN TO MY KORG D-12 BUT THE ONLY THING THAT CAME OUT OF MY MP WAS DISTORTED DRUMS...NO OTHER SOUNDS.. i DID GO TO THOSE MIDI SITES VERY HELPFUL FOR BASICS BUT WHEN IT COMES TO THE HANDS ON PART I GET LOST...

you want to recreate the beats on the MPC, i suggest u do that LITERALLY!
sample your drums into the MPC and sequence them again. getting the MPC to record the midi signal of that u have already done is being LAZY! but hey if u wanna do that then by all means. but if the sound is distorted then you sampled them in too loud.... maybe.

So are you saying its easier to gothru midi--I have an easier time doing it sampling. Bu when i try to synch 2 different sounds then a prob arises --I guess I'm on some rain man sh---

sample the beat, into the MPC, then build around the sample by hitting the
exact rhtym, you can then use or erase the sample. that's it. T"
