Need a bit of help hooking things up

I just recieved an MFC 42 from TurntableLab a couple of days ago . What I've done for the moment is just hooked the ins and outs of the MFC to the FlexFX send and returns on my Rane 56 (which is hooked up to my turntable) . What I really want to be able to do is play, and keep on re-playing a sample on my mpc until I get the sound I want through the filter and then be able to re-sample the filtered sound into the mpc . I know this isn't possible cause you can't play a sound and sample at the same time on the XL . So I was wondering if this can be done, or imitated by using midi ? Midi is totally foreign to me so that's why I'm asking . So can you save midi data for each sound so that you can just load everything up and have the a sequence play back with all the samples you want going through the filter with their individual filter settings ? Obviously I'd then want that signal going through my mixer (1604VLZPro) so I could record the end result . But that's another matter and something I should be able to figure out myself .

You have the card reader, right? Do you have Recycle on your computer?

Save the unaltered sample to the memory card. Load the card on the cpu, and load up the sample in Recycle. Hook main outs of computer to ins on MFC, and outs of MFC to effects return on ttm 56. Main outs of ttm56 to MPC. Keep replaying the sample in the computer, through the filter til you like it, then sample that into the MPC.

OR do it the other way around, Play the sample in the MPC through the filter and record/sample into the computer--save to card---load in MPC. Thats probably even better, cuz if you have it on the computer, effected, you can chop and EQ it or edit or whatever before you save to the card and load into the MPC.

mixer w/effects to another recorder/sampler/whatever.

playback from that whatever recorder back throught the mixer w/effects into the MPC via sample in mode and mess with effects, when you find what you want, sample it and place it on a pad.

Main thing with xl though you gotta record it onto another recorder then sample in again.

Looks like I'll just make do until I get the cash to cop an s950 .

I still gotta find out what the point of midi (hooked up to the mpc) is and what it can do in all of this .

I just got hit with an idea that I prolly shoulda had long before this . I reckon I'll hook everything up so I can sample the sound into the mpc, then **** with it using the filter, get the sound that I want, and then, keeping the settings on the MFC, resample the sound again from the turntable, but have it go through the filter before it gets to the mpc for recording . This should work (?)

I know you haven't been using your mfc for a minute, but how do you have yours hooked up?

Initial impressions of the filter are alright. I only had a short play with it but I couldn't get the filters to really do much like I'd hit 2-pole on the stereo channel, assign the switches to low pass (both switches down) and it doesn't do much . It will cut out some highs but not alot at all . the manual isn't great, but I think I just need to sit in front of it and play for a while .

Right now honestly it isn't hooked up at all. I might sell it.
