Mpc 2000xl + Z8 = Mpc 4000 ?

Was thinkin of gettin a z8 sampler and hookin it up with my 2000xl...

Comparing this setup with the 4k, wich features am I missing?

Or should I just get the 4k instead?

Actually, you're getting a better sampler, because the sampler on the MPC4000 is the equivalent of the Z4 sampler.

The one disadvantage I see with using the MPC2000XL + Z8 is you're limited to sample at a 16-bit/44.1 kHz on your Z8 because that is all your MPC2000XL can read. That is of course if you use your 2000XL for your primary sequencer.

I know you can control your sampler with the 2000XL through MIDI, but I just see having an all-in-one-box as more user friendly.

The MPC4000 uses the Z4/Z8 sampling engine and it is excellent. You will miss a lot in that user interface if you go with just adding a Z8.

If budget is your concern, then buy the MPC4000LE and add to it as your budget allows. The LE is almost the same cost as the Z8.

Do yourself a favor and go with the MPC4000. But not yet. Wait until the new blue colored model is out in December. Then you will know that you have the latest one.

One exception to the above: do you plan to buy new or used? You can get a mint or near mint MPC4000 nearly all the time on eBay from someone who bought it and then lost interest immediately for one reason or another. This might help you save quite a lot of money.

The 4k had me at hello, but my budget ain´t all good...
I guess I´ll hafta wait for the blue one...
For now I can hook up my 2kXL with my pc with logic or cubase sx with battery. It´ll get me pretty far...

yeah , i am a big 4000 fan but limited on cash. my plan is to get a blue one in the 2004. hopefully i will get a good deal. i want to get a little sound module to hold me over but i think i will just save that for the 4000 instead.

When were on the subject, what is the difference between the grey and the blue one? Besides the color...

never seen a grey one..I got a white one with black panels and blue highlights..that the one you talkin about?

well...I would say a 80GB HD and the introduction of the Plus (which comes with s/pdif..used to just be studio a studio d, normal and le, the plus takes the place of the normal one). Used to just be a 60GB HD....but the blue ones aint' out yet and they already have that...with the white ones...so I have no clue basically is what all this gibberish is about
