Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

i am planning chaning my setup to using a comp and a tascam fw-1884. My question is, will I be able to do good mixes and such just using my stock sound card or is that really big of an issue to upgrade? I assume it would be a good idea to buy a better soundcard but I would like to know if it is really needed. Any suggestions /tips are welcome. It would prob also be a good idea since I can get one that comes equipped with a firewire input. So I would kill to birds with one stone ie gettign a better sound card and installign the firewire card on my comp. And yes I did soem searching but couldnt get all the info I really wanted.

Emu 1212M 24-Bit/192kHz Balanced PCI Interface (Windows) is a good sound card.

Stock soundcards can do good music, it's just the higher the quality soundcard the better. Don't let people fool you, stock cound cards are fine, BUT, when going for higher and higher quality your going to need higher quality soundcards/interfaces along with higher quality cables and adapters to lessen/dampen EMI interference (stock soundcards will be more apt to let interference in).
