tonight will be my third show using the mpc 1k for my set.

i'm performing with a bunch of musicians, electronic and progressive hip hop. really talented guys. the dj, Attarax, uses a 1k as well. he got his a couple months back. we set both up side by side and just jam, and this thing has unlimited potential.

the beauty of a sampler is its unique ability to be both an instrument live and a workstation. redundant to say on a board like this, but it's really true. this is a thing of beauty.

i'm using a m audio uno and a laptop with reason, too. flawless integration. things are going magnificently.

i do 2 beats live and a live improv routine with other musicians, and for my vocal sections i simply hit play and let the mpc do its thing. beautiful. things are going great.

by the way if anyone gets a chance to play in DC, get a show at the velvet lounge - but don't invite any of your under 21 friends. i had a flock of like 30 people show up and get turned away, although their website says nothing about being only 21+. at least i got to perform...and i'm 19...and they let me get drunk off my ass cuz they thought i was 22.

hell yeah.

anyway thank you all for your help and input. more as things unfold.

i used to own a korg esx1 before the 1k and i can't say the same for it. yep, it samples but its not worth a sh!t for live gigs. thank god i traded that sh!t in for my 1k. best decision i ever made. perhaps your statment is brand specific. i don't know about others as i have only used these two and i couldn't be happier about my switch.

anyway sounds like you had a good time, and thats what counts.
