I would rather have you:

A) Post a Beat and let the best man win.

or

B) Say "I wont battle because I know I will lose".

Either of those are better than the sorry excuses you have about audio inputs and Emacs, wouldnt you agree?

Remember, even a chump like Buster douglas could take out a much better Tyson on any given day. Tyson can make all the excuses he wants (I was sick, I was distracted, I didnt train enough?) ---but he LOST, didnt he?

The fact is, on any given day, anyone could beat anyone, its a matter of at least throwing some punches instead of just letting yourself get beat down, feel me?

Its not about color, stupid! It's about a struggle that created an escapist culture. hip hop culture was a reponse movement that seeks/sought to create its own rules, where color doesn't matter, only dedication does. Yes, it was a culture created by Black folks but you're forgetting an important part of that equation---it was created by POOR black folks! there are poor Asian kids, poor Latino kids, Poor *gasp* white kids who understand that struggle because they lived it also. Will any of these non-black kids ever experience EXACTLY the same struggle as a black kid? NEVER. But that doesn't mean they don't go through a struggle, and that their struggle is any less legitimate. That's why they have their own distinctive flavor when they make hip hop --- they are trying to do THEM, and NOT imitate what is a black artform. Its called homage, out of respect, not "stealing"....just like sampling isnt stealing either.

Honestly: Do you think if Kool Herc, and Flash, and Bambaataa had been country-club going, golf playing dudes in Benzes back then, that hip hop would even exist now? Do you think they would have created a counterculture in response to a struggle if they were eating Filet Mignon and drinking Cris in the 70s?

It boils down to a struggle against an oppressor, and just because a black culture was created in response to their oppressor, doesnt mean that other cultures, and other races, can't identify with the idea of a struggle and respond their own way. It is the people, such as yourself and people that hold onto the idea that hip hop is "a black thing" and not a "revolution" thing that place limits on it, and have made it into what it is today, as compared to what it was then.

That is why peers and an audience exist. And that relates to hip hop as well. There is no battle without an audience. There is no MC or DJ without a crowd.

Feel me?

Oh get off it. Lemme guess...the "white dude" is oppressing you, right?

Tell you what....Im pretty sure Something Like That isnt white.
Battle him, and I'll stay out of it. There. Better?

In the end, hip hop at its rawest level is about calling out a fraud, a fronter, a fake, a perpetrator. That's why hip hop has this fascination with "real", and neverending debates about what it means.

Mods, please move this thread to the Off topic Forum, or delete it if you see fit. I dont wanna waste anymore time clogging up the 60/3000 forum, when the heads in it could be reading something much more constructive.

Philly, you and I will have to agree to disagree. I would respect your viewpoints on beatkmaking more if you actually MADE BEATS, but until you can show you do, you stand as an observer speaking opinions to participants.

True, and the funny part is that Cormega, a hero of Philly's is saying the opposite of what Philly is saying --- Bring back the BoomBap.

Kinda odd that Philly posts an article which contradicts everything he says. Kinda like stepping to a gunfight and shooting yourself first thing.

Mr. Philly, I don't have $25,000 to spare but I am willing to throw down a couple dollars to make this worth our time. Come through with some beats and we'll let the forum members decide the numbers. Maybe everyone puts in $10-20 dollars into the virtual cup and then the winner gets a paypal transaction. How's that sound?

We'll have 2 rounds. Each round has 1 beat. We battle, forum members judge and then go from there. Or you me and Tic Toc are in it. We all submit a beat in the first round.

Forum chooses the 2 hottest beats and the man left out is eliminated.

The two guys in proceed to the next round and lace another beat and call it a day or they can present 1 beat in 2 rounds.

How about the deadline. This sunday at 1:00 pm. That gives you plenty of time to prepare 2 to 3 beats. Or just choose some out of your beat library.

I'm down for this and I'm putting $25 on it. Other members feel free to harp in. It's not about the money though...its about the props, respect and honor.

Extend that a little.

I wanna make entirely new all-60 beats for this. Gimme a few more days, or just battle without me, cuz as I said, that would be like a whiteboy trying to steal your black "battle" thing.

My money (and I will throw down money even if I dont battle) is on SLT, or basically anyone-but-Philly.

Good idea TicToc. The date should be extended until 1am of next Wednesday. That's almost an entire week to crack out some heat. Plus that gives Philly the time to gets a simple recording method together so he can participate. If you can't do it Philly, its all good, I understand that you don't have a way to load up beats so we'll call it a day until you can.

No hate Doc, never any hate comin from me. I was just askin son what he was talking about earlier in this post. It was hard to dechiper with all the typos and ish. To be honest, dude be talking out the side of his neck and never has any substance to back up these arguments. If your gonna start something, finish it and do it right. Ain't no half steppin, ain't no half assin. Just validate your point by showing and proving. It's like evidence in the court. Show and Prove. Duke has been poppin mess in this forum for a minute, kinda like Firestarter. He should at least give some reason why we should pay this kat any mind after the stunts he's been pullin lately.
