Studio Monitors or Soundcard?

read the scenario below then post what you would do, and why...

scenario:
you have a computer (winxp) and your 1k (mpc1000)... you also have a no-name brand soundcard and these cheesy speakers that came with the computer... if somebody offered to give you one of the above items for free, which item would you get and why?

monitors, I won't tell you why.

Soundcard . Cause if someone is giving it to you for free, in most cases they ain't spending enough . And monitors are one thing where you need to get the best that you possibly can .
But if that isn't the case, and price doesn't matter, get some monitors . And don't worry about having good monitors with a shiit soundcard ... You can get a soundcard later .

unfortunately both are VERY important...
if u got a shit sound card and good monitors this will only send the shit sound out a good monitor but good card u still get a crap sound cuz the cheap monitors are wack.

monitors for the mean time and try get a Professional Card ASAP.

Monitors.....If your composing outside the PC , (I.e MPC, Modules & Mixer) at least your playback will be tru and inspiring. Your never gonna be able to tell the wood from the trees if your listening thru nonsense PC speakers routed thru any soundcard or not

Theres no real way around it tho...In the long run, u cant really compensate one for the other and hope to make a gain.

Also depends on the brand on brand of the give aways. Take the best of whatever it is that can do the job the way u need it done. Free dont mean its needed. You might jus end up throwing it away after a week and having to go about things the right way and spending sum CASH!

aiight cool... thanks again yall... nobody ain't givin' me s**t for free, i just made the scenario that way so that money wouldn't influence the decision that you made... i will eventually obtain both items, i just wanted to know which one out of the two items would and should be considered a higher priority...
