this has been discussed in grave detail (meaning quite a few posts and threads) over the course of this year alone. some of us even had email communication with akai. from what we were told by akai, they are looking into possibly integrating those features with future os updates, they never committed to tell us if the 1000 will or will not get them.

do a search on time stretch and mpc 1000, you will find lots of threads.

no doubt. time is easy as fuk in audacity and i don't know, it seems like its more rewarding to manual chop or sumtin. but now that i'm good at that i probably, uhm, definitly would use that function if they gave it to us.

Yeah, I can imagine it is, it's an MPC. I don't see why people just can't accept it and move on.

yes, it is dope on audacity or protools....it makes your chopping skills better because you have a more accurate visual of whats going on.

all i have to say is that this machine is a bang for your buck.

For Real Lamp, But you know, it took me getting rid of it, and actually buying a 4k to really know. After having the 4k for almost a year and really saw what it was about, I realized I just had some kind of gear penis envy or something. Cause the 1k is really a dope machine, and it has what you really need. The functions it doesn't have...well...other gear and pc's do a much better job at those anyway, and that goes for any mpc including the 4k. The "Thing" about the mpc is the sequencer and the pads, and you got that with the 1k, and more. Be satisfied with what you got.

In issue number four of Scratch Magazine (March/April 2005), there is a one page article on the pros and cons of the MPC 1000 and there is a little something at the bottom of that page...

[Ed.'s Note: According to Akai, the following weaknesses will be addressed in a software update sometime in 2005.] Lacks trim/edit functions such as zoning, reverse, and timestretch. A computer is necessary to overcome these limitations.

That was the exact thing written on page 94 of that issue...

Yes, we know that. I wrote about that here back when that issue first came out. Also, if you do a search on my posts you will find that I also posted an email directly from akai stating that the 1000 will get it but a date was not specified.
