I am a white boy myself and I cannot stand Aesop , Sage Francis , or Atmosphere. I live in Austin and I see all of these wannabe new emo bastards at these shows. I am 27 and I have been DJ ing since 91 ( JR High Dances Baby!! ) Even back the majority of what I spun was Tribe , KMD , De La Soul , Masta Ace , w/ occasional Geto Boys ( had to bleep those cusswords ) ect. In a sense I was raised on these records and alot of kids of all races today don't have a clue or havent heard any of the true greats that forged the sound everyone is trying to recreate ( and many failing miserably ) . I hear Sage talking Public Enemy this and Public Enemy that I guess trying to put himself in that militant sector of hiphop but really without any fuel or real meaning behind it. It is all depressing non uplifing s**t , just jumbled up tacky anti everything sentiment garbage with a ripped off sound. It is ok to address messages in your music but have more finesse and less " daddy I was repressed" . To me that emo s**t is whiney garbage.

ok - yes we know again hiphop was originated by black inner city youth.....thanks for the reiteration of that history lesson and as far as comparisons to the music of today being made on keyboards and the music of 1980....poorly presented....as you're comparing the originators who helped form the sound of the classic era which is classic for that reason you stated.....they were playing live instruments in the studio.....yeah live session players always laid down basslines, horns, percussion etc. This is nothing new to me. I'm sure I possess more knowledge of hiphop than you do. Drop the BS about white kids don't know shit about hiphop when you know that hiphop was designed to be embraced by people of all races and cultures. Look at it today. The reason white kids, asian kids, hispanic kids, indian kids, european kids embrace it because we all can relate to it in some way......you don't think i am annoyed by people that disrespect hiphop by not understanding the roots of it. That is all i'm saying. i'm 27 duke.....been listening to hiphop music since 3rd grade....chillin' with my little preschool tape recorder dubbing music off the living room stereo with the spiral corded microphone.....i am the product of hiphop!

Philly Stress speaks the truth. Drumatic may be a white boy, but I have to admit his beats can speak for him. But dunny got beats for days, that can stand up to the majority cats up on these forums... Peace.

Yeah son got beats, but SO WHAT!!! I run into thousands of cats that have "Hot Beats". That means nothing nowadays, because most of it has been done before, myself included. Now these "Golden Era" cats are the same ones dissin' producers like the Neptunes, Timbo and others. But the thing is these cats brought something NEW to the game in your music people were afraid to try. When I listen to Drumat!ic's sh!t I all ready know what to expect and thats NOT the mark of a GREAT producer. Sh!t even Premo is feelin' the heat of that sh!t!!! It's good to have a signature style to a point... When people hear a beat and can pick out who did it, then you know your stuck.

Hiphop was 10 YEARS in the making when LL's Black Panther came out, so YOU missed the beginning... and most of the songs back then were PRO-BLACK!!! Phillystress is correct, and you live in NE Philly, dog I haven't even been here a full year and I have heard stories about MAD racism in that part of Philly, so please!!!

What I find weird is a lot of the pro black hip hop was bigger in white communities than it was in the hood. The PE shows I went to were at the apollo, so there weren't lots of white cats there, but there were at least 9, but you see concert footage and it's a sea of white dudes, same with X clan, or Cube, he was huge with white boys, devil talk or not, it was real, even back then the streets just wanted to dance and get laid.

the pop hip hop isn;t the whole of hip hop, and this is just a trend right now. Once they juice it for all it's worth something else will get their attention and all the hipop cats will get dropped. Remember MC Hammer? We'll see a lot of that happening.
