zip drive or cd rom, cuz im gonna buy some sounds off a website, and i heard zip is better cuz its faster, but i heard cd rom has more space. so im not sure which type to buy.

You can't use either with the MPC1000. But if you're gonna get one anyway, I would get CD-ROM - I've found zip drives pretty unreliable, and when they mess up with a zip disk full of samples, you've usually lost those samples.

I'm not sure if ZIP is faster, but this is the way I prefer to do it. If you have a CD player setup beside your MPC, you can connect the
Audio Out L/R of your CD player to the Record In L/R of your MPC, and sample the sounds you want use.

Go with CD... 8)

Why not just put the sounds on your hard drive, and transfer them to your MPC with the usb cable? And if you don't have a usb input on your MPC, you are in the wrong forum

You can do that as well...

But it's faster to turn on a CD player and sample a sound, then starting up your computer...

zip drives are better. becuz you can save your work.

as far as i know MPC WILL NOT allow you to "save" with cdrom only load.

and cd roms load faster.

I prefer CD for loading and Zip for saving, I try to use my zip as less as possible. So far, no corrupted disks yet.

- and cd roms load faster.
- I'm not sure if ZIP is faster.

Faaster is not always better.
Better is not always faster.

Does it REALLY matter cause the
speed of both of them is good anyway.

I don't have a CD-ROM for my MPC anymore. I had one and NEVER used it so I disconnected it. Actually, you don't NEED either, but besides a cardreader, a Zip is your best bet for saving anything you create, however you could always make and record your beat in one session and so not need to save at all.

I just like the idea of having CD rom for my sample Cd's. And Zips for my drum kits and samples. that's why I need both. You can save up to 7 1/2 Zips of samples and kits on 1 Cd rom CD.
