mpc 3000 low output

ive been makin beats on the 3000 the past few weeks, and im noticing it has a fairly low output in comparison to the 2000. is this common w the 3000?
also, there are 3 input gain settings, is there one that is most popular for any reason?
anyone?

im not sure about the 3k low output, but, the 60 definitely has a low output compared to a lot of stuff... also, im a 60 user and i use the MID setting on my input gain... there was a post about it not too long ago in the 60 forum, should be easy to find, within the last month or two... i think the most popular input gain setting on a 60 was MID, they did a poll to see who used what, and MID came out most used, i think...

its kinda odd how low the output is, i only got a mackie board to boost the signal to protools if i want it stereo, i guess i could do each side individually thru a hi end mic pre, but thats kinda pushin it. it just makes things more complicated, trying to avoid the mackie

3000's are pretty loud by many people's standards. Maybe something's wrong with yours?

you can get the output boost modification, but it should still be pretty loud without it.. especially with your mixer. What mackie do you have ?

making sure your sampling at a good level ?
is it loud on your headphones from the stereo out ?

3000 is loud i track in 3ks n 2ks all day. you prob just sampled wrong. somietimes without the view of the waveform people dont kno they sampled in all low.

i usually use the low input setting, i find there is distortion at higher levels when i use the mid setting, but im always sampling at the highest level of gain i can get it to. i have a mackie 24-8. im not really feelin mackies tho. i just use it for monitoring when recording, & never use the preamps in it. for vox i use a manley voxbox that goes directly to a rosetta converter, then aes to my 888 into protools. which is a much better chain for droppin beats too. if the levels were hotter straight out of the 3000, id just plug it into the rosetta directly.

heres a question.

anyone know how to sync a 3000 to protools? i know how to do it with a 2000 and a motu midi timepiece using 30 frames per second, but im not really sure what to do on a 3000.
anyone?
