Do you have the upgrades for the 60? The 3.10e OS and the Marion Scsi make a great machine even better, I feel the 3000 OS suits the 60 better than it does the 3000 due to the better panel layout, but that's just me.

Also, the MPC editor is quite handy if you are not aware of it.

I have the 3.10 OS on the 60, but not the marion scsi. I agree that the 3000 Os suits the 60 better. I have been using the 3000 as my main machine because it has the filters, zip storage etc., and I have to admit, it's just easier that way. But all my drum sounds go through the 60, except when I'm after a cleaner sound.

Everybody keeps talking about how cheap a 60 is... not true after you put the neccessary upgrades into it. SCSI, 3.10, new backlight (done right, not wrong like I did it), replacement of faulty pads and switches...
It adds up!

I have already spent $500 (not includeing the repair of my LCD, which is MY FAULT).

I never said it was cheap. Getting ne cheap is $400-$500 with no upgrades, then it adds up. In the 60, you really pay for quality and elegany functionality as well as sound, It's definitly not a cheap route because you need other outboard gear. But Music isn;t cheap, to get a good sound you need good gear. Everyone talks about madlib this and that, but he's got an engineer that polishes whatever methods he uses. Don;t think that a 1000 and a mic will make your whole album, because then you'll want it to sound better, which either means more gear or paying for mixing and mastering, just look at how many monitor buying threads are around. the 60 is a Fat machine, not good as a bargain, it's not for cheap asses.
