Card reader install probs

OK, ive gone from a 250mb zip drive to the card reader and everything was looking good until this happened:
I sample something, save it on the card. Turn the mpc off, reload that sample from the card and when i hit the pad all i get is this fuzzy noise.
I tried loading sounds from the PC onto the card and then load from the MPC and tha same thing happens.
Any sound i saved from the MPC plays fine on my computer.
And when the sound is originally sampled in on the MPC, i hit the pad and the sample plays fine, its only loading in saved sampled that i get this kashhhhhhhhhhit!
I tried saving as SND files aswell and the same thing happens.
Has anyone else had this problem or know how it can be fixed?

Maybe u bounced ur memory sticks during ur little operation....

Check that...If they loose they aint got hold the sounds properly hence the noise in playback

but i can sample in and it holds the sound alright

you say that they do play properly when u put them in on the computer?

yep the memory looks to be in there pretty tight.
Thats right, the sounds only play when loaded on computer or when directly sampled into the mpc, so not loaded from a card.
know of anything else it could be?
Would it have anything to do with the slave/master setting at the back of the drive?

what operating system version are you using, if its not 1.20, maybe try and upgrade to that and see if that helps...but i dont think thats whats causing it

great, i just formatted the card on the mpc to see if that would help and now windows wont read it or reformat it.

dude... why would u format your card with your sounds on it

nah, it was the card from my digi camera that i reformatted in windows before i installed the drive.
just tryin to work out how to get this card reformatted so i can put the new OS on it.

i was about to say... you must have had some pics on there

i have now put the zip back in (which is loading samples fine by the way) and loaded in OS 1.2
I put the card reader back in and have the same trouble.
any suggestions?
I think i might buy a different CF card and try that...?

it was worth a try... never heard of that problem before though... guess if i had a card reader i could figure it out... maybe Lamp or someone else who has a cardreader can help ya out

How big is the card? Under 2gb just stick with OS 1.14.

Format the card in PC if you plan on tranferring samples on it, Fat16 and no longer than 8 character filenames.

Make SURE samples are 44khz, 16bit. Don't guess, make sure.

Make sure RAM is seated properly.

Make sure CF Card is seated properly in both PC and MPC when reading/writing from it.

Wav or SND it doesn't matter. Not many PC programs can deal properly with Akai SND's. Awave is a good one, MPC Editor (of course). On PC don't save SND's with Adobe Audition cause it can't deal with them properly.

Im not sure if it was the card specifically but i went and bought a new CF and its working perfectly. I was using a physically smaller card so i tried one of the bigger ones and its now its all good.

Sorry Lamp but I got to ask ... Do you mean make sure any file you want to transfer from the comp to the mpc is 44khz/16bit ?
