I have an ASR, but I don't have the 2k I have a 1k and a 4k. But if I had to chooose I would choose the MPC over the ASR due to ease of use. Sequicing. The ASR is a good machine, not even good but great and it has great options for your samples, and it puts a nice color on your samples and some great multisamples are avail. The difference is that the ASR is a full sampler where as the MPC is a phrase sampler. Look on
www.vintagesynth.org to check the differences between the 2

Phrase sampler, I doubt it. It's too deep to be a phrase sampler.
It CAN be used as a phrase sampler though.

ASR10 vs. MPC2kxl.
I have both.

Unfair comparison, how dare you ask a question like that. :D

Both Machines are Great. It really depends on your comfort level of working with a keyboard vs a drum machine. I have both and wouldn't give up either one.

i rather my ASR over my MPC just because to me its more universal. I only use the MPC for the pads because I dont wanna risk the ASR keys when im putting together basslines. and the FX on the ASR are hot

The sampler on the ASR is probably the best, and the filters is monstrous and effects are killer. The mpc pads feel better than boobies, and the sequencer can't be beat. Put them both together and you're set.
