i hope this is the right place for this....

im looking for a program for sample editing on my 1k

I went down to the guitar center today and the guy was telling me Recycle or Sound Forge is good but that i should get Acid, Live or Cakewalk project 5. I just wanna check on what he was saying before i spent $$$.

Right now im only using hardware, i have a 1k, a juno-d , and a korg d1200 mixer. Im planing on puting this on a PC, but i might switch to a mac with in the next year, so something thats compatible with both would be nice.

I dont want to pay for something that has features on it that i dont need...i dont need a program to record on just a really good sample editor.

Which has the best sample editing features between these?

acid is not a wave editor. reqd up on it on the net.
recycle and sound forge are wave editors, read up on them on the net.

Live or cakewalk, no. Tell him he might as well quit his job and become a sideshow freak.

Thats the funniest shit I've heard.. Man them gc boys have that info on lock..

Soundforge is great, get some decent plugins and your set to go... In terms of capabilty, no idea if it works on a mac, don't think it does...

not being funny but if you had read about them you'd know that sound forge and recycle are the same thing- they do different things so cant be compared....

Donavin, he is saying that they do the same thing, but you need to read about them both to truly COMPARE them. It's user preference.

A car is a car right? If you could cop a Lexus or a Kia, the goal is to get from Point A to Point B right???

yea a car is a car the same way a wave editor is a wave editor...

but a car might have leather as opposed to cloth interior...
a faster engine or a sun roof...

the same way a wave editor might have a different features or whatever.

im asking a simple question...why cant i just get an answer?

im asking here so that i can learn from what you already know...i understand that in the end its going to be my choice, but im asking the opinion of the form.

honestly, if you want an opinion, SF can do everything Recycle can and more.

GET SF. It's like Recycle plus CoolEdit plus a few other things. You wont need any other wave editors. You can use its Auto Region feature to do what Recycle does, plus it has better EQs, effects, plugins, etc.

i agree

however, if you plan on incorporating reason into your setup, recycle is a must have

recycle- software primarily used for locating peaks and then calculating the sample times to spit out a midi file of the note placements- it also has envelopes etc

soundforge- audio editor

they aint the same thing- you can't do stuff in recycle that you can in sound forge-

not sure if i could really dumb it down any more...

and i did answer your question- you just didnt know you had asked it due to not really knowing what you are doing- if you had read up about them both you'd know recycle isn't strictly an audio editor
