Do you think Forat and VST would be as famous as they are if there were any "spots like them" anywhere?

Nobody touches VST, not even in NY. LA just has more business and the best go over there.

while your input is fascinating, i'm only looking to have two things done:

1. backlight replaced
2. SCSI board checked.

i'm also rather challenged financially, so if at all possible, i'd like to avoid shipping there/back, etc. i figure since it's nothing major, i'd see if anyone here knew of a local spot that could do it.

yeah, i called a few places in the yellow pages, but they said "none of our techs know how to service an MPC-60."

Ain't posted up on this piece in a minute, but I was scannin through and had to try and help a fellow bay head. Anyway, you ever heard of Musician's Service Center in San Jose? They do pretty good work generally, but nothing like Forat in terms of customization or whatever. But for parts and service, old boy at MSC is usually in touch with whatever is requested. Check 'em out, I got my SMPTE, 8-outs and memory(MPC2000) installed at that place some years back. Don't see why they wouldn't service 60's, they been around for a minute.

yeah, ive tried three different SCSI cables and four different zip drives with no luck.

You checked your termination etc? Multiple Zip disks? The obvious stuff I guess. You could try a external terminator also. I have heard of issues where the termination in Zip drives is not sufficient.

yeah, according to the manual, everything i did was right. ill have to look in to the external terminator though, maybe that will help.

SCSI temination switch on zip drives has ALWAYS been enough for me and my 60...

who installed the SCSI on your 60? also, you DO have OS 3.10e installed, right?!?!?

Even if he didnt, if Im not mistaken, everything above 2.14 supports SCSI. thats why OS 2.14 came with SCSI standard, right?

i know it came with it, but, im not sure if it was actually functional until 3.10e.... but chit, i cant remember...
