Stopping a long sample

I have a long sample, approx. 30 seconds, loaded into my 2000xl. I want to add effects but have to play through the entire sample at some point. Is there a way to end or stop a sample while it is still playing

Either set the note to Note Off on the params page of the Program screen or edit the note duration in Step mode. Either results in the same effect.

You could also assign another pad to shut it off, kind of like a open hi hat sound being cut off by the closed hi hat sound.
