It just makes it easier to actually, to fine tune certain aspects of a track...

my only tip is to play around with it, until you actually see... Yeah you can mess around and make your kicks off beat, or lazy, or whatever... It just lets you have more access to every note really.. Thus allowing
more tweaking, more changups, more whatever...

In my opinion, having done this in is the past and present, I find it does make a song sound tighter, usually the hats are just blazing... It just
gives it a certain feel, can't really explain it... Along with hats, other percussion can get some life using this method, bongos, congos, shakers, whatever, I think the hightlight of this method comes during the sequay between a verse and chorus, or verse and verse, verse and bridge, when you want to build up the drums.. Of course you can do this via the normal
bpm, it just seems to add some spark the other way, esp with slower tracks, because it breaks it up and adds a sense of speed (with the double bpm and resolution)... Maybe its just presonal preference...

I've messed around and had beats up to 370 bpms(on reason) before that sounded like normal slow beats, its also adds to the experimentation, esp when you like to have crazy buildups...

My only concern is, when hardware has a limited note capacity, thus
when you double, you reduce by half... speaking about the fantomx here, never ran into it, but it might be a problem...

So basically, the longer bars makes a more natural feel. One bar will still equal one bar, with 4 beats per bar because they technically play twice as fast. You'll hear 8 ticks per bar, but each pair of ticks now corresponds to one beat (top and bottom).

To sum up what I'm saying is that if you double the tempo AND double the TSIG, then you get double resolution without changing the number of bars you have (so when comparing beats you don't need to do math with the bar quantities) or altering how you would normally play, except the increased metronome rates. There used to be a tutorial about this, but the Tutor has smartened up and ain't giving the sh!t away for free no more , so I suggest to everyone to drop the $40 and get the ebook, 'cause this cat's got KNOWLEDGE!!!

Hit USER

Set (SEQ) BPM to 168 (*84) or * (BPM (you usually use) *2 (double))

Tsig: 8/4

Bars: 1

Timing: 1/8 or whatever you usually start with for Kicks etc....

1(bar)X2Tsig = 2Bars

2(bar)X2Tsig = 4Bars

Tsig (equals)---> 8/4 = 2Tsig X BAR = Total Bars

Hit MAIN SCREEN, now go back and READ the entire thread, then try. LOL

At no point do you slow the beat down again to hear a difference?

You can compare this with the resolution of a digital image...
If the resolution is low the image is less detailed, but if the resolution is high it's more detailed... Am I making sense....?

The notes have to fall into certain slots, (96 per quarter notes), so you are doubling the resolution and the amount of spaces where you can fill in with notes. By making the time sig 8/4, you keep the same bar lengths, 8 quarter notes per bar instead of 4 quarter notes. Playing real time to doubled bpm would make things harder not easier! If you still dont understand it, dont strain youself. Just double the bpm you are used to and play away as you normally would. Trying things out always helps understand better. If you dont notice any difference, I suppose you dont need to waste your time or energy with this technique.
