MPC 3000 external hard drive question

Hey guys , I would like to get an external scsi hard drive to hook up via scsi my MPC3000 to save my midi sequences,programs, ect, instead of on floppy disk and i was wondering how much memory can the mpc 3000 read and use from a external hard drive? I just dont want to buy a 1GB hard drive if he MPC3000 can only read and register 512MB or something along that lines.

Also what would be a good drive model to get for the MPC3000? Im looking for a drive as big as the MPC3000 can read.

Also can the MPC3000 reverse a sound and if so how do i do that? For example have a normal shaker playing and that same shaker reversed playing one hitting right after the other so it sounds more like a real player.

The 3k formats upto 800megs so a gig drive will be ideal. You can look for old mac external drives or a typical encased scsi drive. Have you considered zip drives? You can reverse a sound at the sound edit screen. Set the zone and choose 'reverse zone' in the 'do' menu.

well then motion detect you could get a bigger scsi drive and have lots of partitions. could use this to have a drums partition, horns one, bass section...

Hey guys, thanks a lot for the great help and info. So i guess i'll try to get a external 1GB scsi hard drive right? Can i chain link a 100mb external scsi zip to the hard drive so i can use the Zip drive for loading samples and the hard drive for saving everything like programs,sequences, ect?

optimus prime, when you say i can get a bigger scsi hard drive and have lots of partitions does this mean i can have multiple patitions of 800mb's?

Or does this mean i can only have 1 big patition of 800mb's total?

You can chain the zip and hard drive via scsi. 800 is the max allowed format.

my understanding is that you can have multiple partions of 780mb.

Great, thanks a lot op for your help,

So i can partition the harddrive within the mpc 3000 right? So i can get a 5 GB hard drive if i want and partition it into multiple partitions of 800mb all within the mpc?
