Lets say I want to play a 8 bar loop throughout the song and then have another 8 bars after playing the first 8 introducing some hats and a snare or somethin (with the original loop playing also). What is the best way to do this? Ive read the manual and tried a few things but cant figure out

Option # 1....

Song Mode...You can have as many (or as few) repeats of sequences as
you wish in song mode...either that or the second sequence functions...

Option # 2...

Instead of making an 8 bar loop...make a 16 bar loop....or even a 32 bar loop...Copy the main tracks that you'll be keeping the same throughout the song...and either step or input the other tracks you want to vary throughout the song into the mpc realtime...

for option 1: you cant have 2 sequences playing at THE SAME TIME tho, its like a queue list, and also the 2nd sequence function doesnt work in song mode from what i tried....

to kinda take what hoodsheep said a bit further;
Make the sequence, complete with the hats and snares you want to have on the second eight bars. Make a copy of that sequence. Put the first sequence in the song, muting the track(s) with the hats and snare, and setting it tpo play once only (no repeats). Then put the second sequence (the copy of the intro) follwoing the first, and just un-mute the hats / snare tracks . Easy

just put the loop on two tracks. when you want your hats to drop out, mute them.

you mean put the loop on 2 sequences not 2 tracks right?

well if i read your question right, instead of making 2 sequences, you can also put the loop on 2 different tracks. mute one when the other is on. then when you want the hats/snare to come in and out just mute/unmute it......but what wdj told you is a good way. just make a full sequence then copy that sequence as a new one and do your change ups that way..
