Hi All,

Everytime I speak to someone about production and I say I have an MPC2kxl they all start to put it down and say computers are way better,,,this that and the other...blah blah blah.

Anyone had this experience, it's starting to bug me!!!!!! why cant they just say oh an MPC2000xl thats cool?

i personally haven't anythinglike that happen to me
but as long as your beats bang no one will care.

Pay them no attention, do what you like, make beats how you want, with what gear you want.

I can say I have had a debate with at least three people about the mpc v’s computer. It’s stuff like oh you have no usb with your mpc? They find it suprising that you can actually make dope beats on an mpc with only 32megs of ram!!!!!shock horror. I get angry about it because they have no idea how good it actually is for many applications.

it's weird how those who primarily use pc's always slag hardware but those with hardware just get on with it...

Ok here's my 2 pence - now I make beats, I got a few bits of gear... DA7 digital mixing desk, AMD Athlon XP 2500 + pc running Logic etc etc and my trusty MPC 2000 XL. Now I don't care what any body says, let me put it this way. If its about making tight quantised beats and the bailiff came round the house to take my gear for example, he could take all the gear he wanted BUT HE AINT TAKING MY MPC ! I aint even gonna front !!! - I am yet to hear air tight quantisation from a PC. Plus I can take my trusty MPC anywhere with me in its carry case and I don't need to lug a big monitor. Now I'm not hating on any PC heads cos my PC is for laying vocals and adding plugins, virtual instruments... you know studio stuff, but my MPC is for making FAT beats Period !

Xbox Vrs MPC... well ...MPC

I intend to use computer programmes in the future but I wont be ever getting rid of my MPC.

as much as i love my mpc's, i gotta say - their strong point is NOT super tight quantizing. i think waht makes them so great is how the quantizing is sorta humanized.

in fact, i recorded 2 takes of the same song a few days ago. had different outboard compression settings for each take or whatever it was. they were both recorded in stereo to my computer. i was suprised to find that the resulting tracks are not the same tempo. theyre off from each other, by just a little tiny bit, but still off.

so yeah, mpc's rule but to me, tight is not what they are about. i hear groove more than "tight"

It's not fair to compare a PC to any MPC, that's like the rapper, Ludacris.
they are to totally different machines with 2 totally dif purposes.


Why does it always have to be verses, can't people just get stuff to work together the best they can and get on with their production lives.
