mpc 2kxl crash / debug mode?

i think ive gotten this 2 or 3 times now

i'll be working on something, i click a button to do somethnig and the XL kinda freaks out and goes into wacky mode. looks a little like this: http://mpc2000xl.com/secret.htm but has completely different words on the screen and what looks like a whole bunch of hex code. there's nothing clickable either. it fills the screen with nonsense, scrolls on its own for a couple of seconds and the machine freezes up. i have to reboot to get back to biz

anyone know what causes this or if it is indicative of something really awful?

(the xl im using is used, seems like it's in great shape but is still pretty new to me so im not sure)

usually happens when im flying thru a track with a lot of stuff on it, happens every once in a while now since i try to slow down a lil bit....

anybody else get this or know it's cause?

ive had my mpc200xl crash quite a few times after heavy use, I got rid of it by going back to an older software version, it has never crashed since.
not once.

yeah! that's exactly it. havent had it since btw but im sure it'll be back. it's honestly good to know other people have seen it too

so was it your fuse? maybe it was a power surge or something. scsi is so fragile
