Why can't my mpc read my compact flash???

It was working fine yesterday...but now only my computer's compact flash can read the card with no prob...

This ever happened to anyone???????

What did you do with your card between now and yesterday?
Why did you do it?
Where did you do it (what machine)?
How did you do it?

Sorry to hear this dude. Similar problems I used to have. I would format a card (I have two including the original Akai one) and get the card setup. Everything would be fine until the next day when all the names would have funny characters in them and nothing would load. I typically dont use the USB option in my 1K but rather move the card back and forward to the PC which has a CF drive.

Anyway, both cards are now fine so I guess the formatting was a little shagged.

As Lampdog says, give us a little more info and perhaps we can help further..

That right there is because you need to format the card on the PC w/ FAT16 and use 8 character or less filenames.

Then you'll no problems with the pc automatically truncating (cutting) the names down to 8 charatacters.

I have never connected my mpc to my computer, because my computer is crap...

I just go back and forth between the two with the CF as the mediator

I didn't know I had to format the card at all....I just started using it

the card seems fine, because when I go to my pc I can see and listen to the files that are there

Everything is working now, What I decided to try was powering the mpc on while holding down the window button so that the mpc would reinstall its software and basically reset itself to the factory settings with the CF inside and it was able to read the compact flash and respond normally

while I was at it I updated the software on the mpc and formatted the CF all is well...Listen.... thanks!!!

Ehm....I really don't know what you mean by this...
On topic...How do I format in MAC? (I know how to do this with FAT in XP, but MAC's still a little mystery for me....
