Hey, if cats is really down, the battle can run like this:

We can can post 1 PGM file with select sounds in that PGM file (like a drum kit, a few one shots, a few multi samples). Whoever is in the beat battle can only use the sounds that are in that PGM to make the track. That way it really dont matter what sounds or equipment you have access too, it's about how creative you can be with the sounds you are given. I got this idea from an old forum I used to frequent, www.rabid-vibes.com

That's a great idea, we can control for everything but creativity if everyone gets the same pgm.. I will volunteer to be a judge.... obviously, someone here has a big ego, but I don't pay attention to talk, just how u walk....

with all due respect i don't think that beat battles with rules such as these really work because there's more to beatmaking than chopping and/or arranging sounds. to me the whole thing starts from hearing a sound that inspires me to go and make a beat, whether it's a loop or a fat snare, it's all the same. the mpc is all the gear that i use so i've had to sample every sound that i have from wax myself.

Hell hea thats hot as hell. I love that idea im definately down. Thats similar to how we battle back home except me and the fam just pick the same sample lock each other in seperate rooms for an hour and jugde who ish is the hottest. But once again great idea.

I think the one track to sample idea would work better. If you just pick a random track that people have to make their beat from (allowing them to add their own bass, drums and percussion), its more creative, because you then see which parts of a track different producers use. Limiting the sounds on offer I feel stifles creativity more than it encourages it.

wow 36 post and you are taking over the forum. do they still call b-more brothers "hoppers"? slow your roll alittle brother because you are no dr. dre or kanya. you are just another bedroom beatmaker with some midi equiment. period. all your beats contain the same instruments, you going crazy with the cymbals and that flute must go. i like that fact that you are into your craft but there are millions of bedroom beatmakers that are nicer than you. that is a fact, deal with it and stop calling people out until you get your own sound together.

This is starting to be funny. Dudes is now talking about battling is wrong like it is not apart of hip-hop culture. I mean, as far as I remember there is always someone who comes around and is real boastful about their shit, if someone disagrees, then they battle. Whether it be rhymes, DJing, mamma jokes, you battle and the best man wins. I mean this cat is coming into this forum with alot of confidence in his joints. I see alot of cats disagreeing, but now nobody wanna step up and prove him wrong. I mean I can't believe that yall acting like battiling is wrong.....And like black people aint boastful about there sh...... Forget about "post counts" and all that (I personally think that is apart of whats wrong with hip-hop) someone post some sh... and shut dude down if yall disagree so much.

Yo Blakksmiff, I hear what you saying, how ever I didn't actually say it was wrong and your right its Hiphop culture to battle... but anyway that was a personal view coming from someone that has been in and won producer battles myself.

What I'm really sayin is take that ish to the appropriate place, in my view...
