I called Akai and they only have OS up to 2.12. Is the 2.14 developed by someone else?

2.14 was a late model OS and I am not so certain it shipped with scsi, but it could have and it would make sense to keep the product viable. but these days, if you don't use 3.10 you're missing out and you're hardcore

true dat, EL, I hve 3.10e. Im just saying, if you buy one with 2.14, and then upgrade the OS, you save yourself some money on buying SCSI.

Floppies on the 60 are......interesting.

I know of one dude who got a 60 with 2.14, and it had no scsi board. Never heard onf anyone getting one with a scsi board installed IIRC, but I read somewhere that they might have shipped with scsi.

Q: How do I find out if my MPC60 has the Marion Systems MPC-SCSI hard disk interface installed?
A: If you have an MPC60-II and the rectangular hole in the upper middle of the rear panel has no connector in it, you don't have it. If you have the original MPC60, the connector labled "RS232C" on the rear panel may be either the original RS232C connector (which was never used) or the true SCSI connector. Check the operating system number when you start up your MPC60. If you have version 2.14, you have a SCSI interface (v.2.14 was the only version that shipped with a SCSI interface). If not, run this test:

BUT, the question is... even if the SCSI was shipped with all 2.14 units, was the SCSI at all functional? or was it just there in hardware form waiting on another update to the software which would implement the SCSI at a later date? this is what i was wondering...

from what I understand, it was functional, but some people took them out of those units to scavenge them for other units. Same with the memory....Im told the 60IIs came stock with the memory upgrade, but some people took them out to scavenge them.

there is a dude on the 60 yahoo forum who has the old OS (2.14) but has functioning SCSI. Also a dude with OS 3.03 who has functional SCSI. Everything above 2.14 supports SCSI, its a matter of having the actual hardware.

Software version 2.14 was the only software version of the MPC60 that shipped where the scsi actually worked(..still don't know why that is..) I bought a backup 60 that has the version 3.03 software and the scsi works fine..not sure about the older software version.

Yet when you buy the scsi upgrade it says "Requires OS 3.10 upgrade". I think thats just Roger Linn being a hustla. Nigg@ Nigg@ ask about him.

Yeah I got an MPC 60II with maxed memory and V. 2.14 installed no SCSI though. Oh well, Hey I manage with sample dumps and MPC Prog Maker and my MPC2000. Someday I will up grade.

did you look inside to see if you have the scsi board? It may just be not workin.
