How do I record the seperate tracks/parts for mixing?

I tried recording the song with the track I want on solo, but when I try it with the tracks that don't kick in for a while, they dont wait they just start immediately. How can I record each track individually and keep and in sync? (Like if the kick dont start until the 3rd bar, then there would be silence until the third bar instead of the kick just startin immediately)
