is pro-tools over rated?

le should have more than 32 tracks. i hate squeezin shit in or worse havin a song in two different sessions and having to bounse one into the other. but other than that i dont have much of a complaint.

Pro Tools is the simplest shit to use for recording, best UI in my opinion. Its not overated at all , I recently tried DP and Logic, went right back to PT - not that theyre bad, they just over complicate shit. Logic got some bad ass effects/plug ins though, thats real.

Cubase and Logic are more like MPCs in how people use em. I already got an MPC.

if you are recording vocals, such as singing, definitely a lot of times need more then 32 tracks, but i got a trick i use wit Pro Tools for that

yall must of never recorded a r&b group before. I have sometimes took up to 15 tracks alone when I record my beats and I'm using a hardware seq and keyboard, not just the mpc. Once you learn tips and tricks when it comes to recording vocals you damn near come close to using 32 tracks if not go over it. Now is pro tools oeverate? I don't think so but I do feel a lot of new guys run to it more thinking its gona give them a edge the same way maybe a mpc or keyboard would. I think pro tools le is no better than any home computer daw program out there. If one wants to get pro tools le then get get but its no better than cubase or anything else some one is using.

question is what kind of fool would leave all tracks open till the very end.

u got to do your instrument tracks, say at the most 10-20, have a vocalist do a rough track on vocals. bounce all your instrument tracks down to 2-4, all laid out and mixed, now you have 24 tracks for vocals.

oh yeah, im just generalizing, not talking to anyone in particular.

to need more than 32 tracks you dont need alot of equipment. first of all its mono tracks(when you use 32). so its real easy to go over that. normally theres about 6-10 tracks for a beat(mpc). dj can take up a bunch of tracks(turntable). then if theres four people rhmying with different layers of vocals hooks and shit(mic). and spreading things out makes it easier to work.


so with a basic studio setup its easy to go over than many tracks. so for basic hiphop its easy to go over that. you dont need to be makin a movie. when you get deeper in this game youll see you need more tracks as your creativity expands.

bounsing tracks into two makes it a pain to edit. during the construction of a song and afterwards things often get changed. in my case at least. i bounse the beat into LR when we hit the limit recording. id rather not do all that.
