How do you find the tempo

I've asked this before but couldn't undertsand how still, I'm a dumb ass, can you treat me like I need special attention and explain how to find the tempo.

find the tempo of what?

The only answer I can give based on the info I have is:

1. get a digital watch with a countdown timer (or a microwave with a timer)
2. set it to one min
3. Start the timer and count the beats until the timer dings.

That'll be the BPM of whatever it is you're tryin to find the tempo for.

Use the Tap tempo.Just make sure you set it to 2 first.

should I tap the tempo of the beat on the snare/clap, but then it's usually to fast

Pick out the kick or snare.But i guess it also deends o what type of music you're makin' too.I'm sure it's almost impossible to do with Techno.Lol

if its say a 2 bar sample, set the mpc to 2 bars, line it up on the 1st click, and then adjust the tempo until it fits. when it loops right, thats the tempo.

if your talking about the tempo(bpm) of a sample u 1st loop the sample then it the parameter button and it tells you

Not always true...from here you have to decide which amount of bars you want it set for. Ex: I normally play the sample out without looping it, and see how long it is. By default the tempo is set for 120. So let's say it records for 6.02.03 or some ish like that. I can decide to have it for 6 bars and slow the tempo down or 7 bars and speed the tempo up and then loop it. Most of the time since I'm doing hip hop, I choose to slow it down. But this seems to work for me, also, you are making a new song, so do what you want with, you dont have to follow the past.

i don't know what the fucl< you're talkin about. you don't have to decide how many bars you want a 2 bar sample to go, its a 2 bar sample, its going to span 2 bars. the method i described above works every time. you don't have to decide the number of bars to find the tempo.

How's he gonna know it's a 2 bar sample till he puts it in the MPC?

easy fellas everyone has their own way of doing things.

i don't know about you or him, but i know how to count. 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, oh check that out, 2 bars. how bout 4? 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4. there you go, thats 4 bars. i don't understand why he would have to put the sample into the mpc to figure that out.

So for long samples you just sit there for a few mins counting in 4's rather than putting it in the MPC? That's fine, to each it's own, I was just merely giving him a pointer and you got all crunchy and sour wit me.

few mins? try 10 secs. 2 bars is 8 counts. thats it. u cont to the beat 1 2 3 4 2 2 3 4 3 2 3 4 4 2 3 4. thats 4bars right there.
