Freddy Fresh Drum Beats Question

I know this might sound lame, and I really don't intend on doing this becuase I can make my own beats.....but....is it illegal to sample another artists drum sample?

Freddy Fresh made this song where he left space inbetween sounds teaching people how to use an sp1200....so basically there are all these awesome samples that he mastered..Snares, High hats, bass drums, organ hits, chords, funky vocals, etc....

Would it be wrong of me to sample his samples and use them to recreate a new song on the mpc?

Again, I won't really do this becuase I know tricks on layering myself...but I was just curious....is it illegal I guess is my question.
The song is called "The anatomy of a beat" if any of you have or have not heard it.

Also, have any of you ever used the sample cd "Crate Diggers" Holy mother that s*** is dope as funk! I highly reccomend it, I will try to find a link to where to purchase it.

all that is on the sample cd are samples of the phattest BD, SD, and HH that I ever heard.....why is that cheating....they are the bare fundamentals to any beat?! I consider them creative building blocks....what was I supposed to do sample my EA-1? its just not the same.

Well, if Freddy really is Fresh, then he would give a rats A$$ if I made something new from something old....besides I am sure he is well off being one of the masters of old skool acid.

Im still not going to funk with it though although they are extremly funky samples

And about the sample issue, just do it.. create your own sound with it.

yo what about all them sample cd's (wav., audio) you see like at guitar center and places like banginbeats.com? some of those cd's have very noticable samples from classics and then there are individual hits that bang but somebody could say "ey, that's from an old pete rock joint classic". and you're like "what?, what do you mean? i just put that out on a commercial release!". even though these companies say "royalty free" or "free to license". what aren't they tellin. i sure wouldn't want to use a sample hit i thought was supa hot, then make it to the final master stage only to find out that it's copyright infringement and now i have to cut it off because i thought it was royalty free. what i see on some of these sample cd's now is that they point out that they can be used for your production but you do not own the sounds. your just licensing them and when you've got a master down, you are requested to send they're company or publisher a copy of your master as well. at the risk (i guess) of them saying. NOPE, can't do that with our sample! don't put that out or we'll sue. sorry for writing so much but i really think there is a grey area in this matter and the answer can really save us time and not to mention the money. (can't believe some of these prices they ask. some of them give you repeat samples, poor EQ, terrible sample edits, samples of kybds you all ready own[the newer ones]). peace.

well, someone hooked me up hardcore with samples that are used by the 'infamous' Koln acid Underground (germanys finest)

I always wondered why there drum beats sounded so bad ass...becuase of the fact that they make acid music, they get all sick with it. Distort the **** out of them, and sequence them like UFOS....most of the time becuase of how they rape the original samples and chords and layer them, there aint no way to identify the original samples....

Yeah, i have two kits in particular ...the one is Crate diggers, the other is this kit called 1x Chord or something....phattest chords I ever heard...

man do whatever u want. I seriously doubt that u are going to sell 50,000 units wiht this beat, so dont worry bout a damn thing wiht copyrights and shit.
