MPC 2000st Classic SCSI problems

im a lil tiny bit mad,i bought a zip n i got tha scsi 2 cable n tha whole 9,i got everything to make each otha work wit each otha,n i hook up my zip n tha mpc wont read it,i tried to just boot it up regular wit just tha floppy n then goto it thru tha disk menu,then i try to goto anything,but once i change tha mpc just stays sayin wait.or wen i try to boot it wit tha zip it says scsi n everythin but dont read anythin its like it dont notice it.

and i know my zip works cuz i plug it up to my computer n it reads it without a problem,


ANY HELP?SUGGESTIONS?PLZ?

probably got a blown scsi fuse, need to have it serviced. try virtual sound technology, the akai service center.

i got tha old classic 2000 not tha xl
i checkd tha inside n i aint see no fuse anywere near tha scsi,i only seen one were tha power is

n no i aint touch anythin b4 use think that might be tha problem

did you put terminate on at the back of the zip drive?

did you select the apppropriate scsi id?

when you try to get the scsi going do you use the jog wheel to navigate diff scsi ids?

on the back of the zip drive there are some small buttons.

make sure the terminate but is switched on and i think you should be using scsi id 6. i have the 250 and there are two ids on mine 5 and 6.

next you want to select the right id from the load disk menu. use the cursor to scroll down and change floppy to i think scsi then use the jog wheel the find the right scsi id.

my zip aint got that,i got a 250 to
n some times wen i even try to change to anythin else,it just freeze's sometimes it wont let me get to my flash memory

what kind of zip do you have?

What is that unconnected port? Is that scsi or parallel? Looks parallel.

Combo drives (drives that can do scsi AND parallel) will not work, has to be strictly scsi.

its scsi 25pin,n i got a 25 to 25pin scsi2 cable to connect it

thats scsi/ parallel.

i see the printer logo on there. i was going to get that one for my computer.

but i have strictly scsi external zip 250 for my MPC.

if its new you should take it back and get the right one. or you can keep that one for your pc and cop the right zip for your MPC from ebay.

Disregard, I did not see the picture that showed the back of the unit when I posted this.........

Are you sure that there are no small switches on the back off the zip? I have a 2000 classic and I just got my zip this week. I had the same EXACT issue for 2 days until I:

a) Switched one of the switches to "terminate"
b) Switched the other switch to scsi id # "5"
c) Turned the zip disk on and off.
d) Rebooted the MPC

After that, it worked perfect....

That does NOT look like a scsi drive, you say you connect it to your computer what port do you connect it to ? does your computer have a scsi interface installed ?

I think they're right about that being a parallel drive.I use to have a problem similar to yours but i switched up and haven't had a problem since.Your drive has to have the termination and i.d. switch for it to function properly.
