Dead pad's? on 2000xl?

Hey ppls, just wondering if i could get a little feedback on this problem....

After many years of waiting, I finally purchased my first mpc2000xl today(second hand). Booted it up, all seemed well.. started sampling via line-in to create some loops etc.. But i noticed i couldnt assign any to pad9, pad10, pad11 and pad12, yet i could assign a sound to any of the other pad's... This was weird to me, and im wondering if these 4 pads are dead? I really cant think of any reason why they wouldnt be working... or reserved for any other purpose? Has anyone had this happen? or give me a pointer on fixing this? considering its the 4 pads in a row, maybe its some chip/wire thats died that controls that line of pads?
Ive done a search on this forum before posting this question, and done research on many mpc sites, but never found anything on this...

Any help would be appreceated!

there was a post on here a few months back about another guy having the same problem, if i remember correctly, i think he fixed it by going inside the MPC and Moving the Board or something had fell outta place on that last row, like where u are talking about on your MPC.... again, this was like back in February, March, or April

How do you load your sounds? by .pgm or one by one?
Have you tried to smpl an external source and then assign new smpl to pad9/10/11/12?
You couldn't assign any smplz to dem, but can you play Midi note with dem pads? If you've got a sound module or synth try to trigger it using those pads and let we know wah gwaan.

hum.. weh? him said he couldn't assign to those pads, him nah say how it done, he never said he does MIDI...

he didnt say about the MIDI...my fault

open up the mpc. Then by the pad sensors there is a ribbon cable that u should plug in all the way. This is a common problem casue it wiggles out aftger years of use and then loses pads.

Im loading the sounds one by one of a disk (.wav), that i previously saved to using this machine. Then when you load it, you can assign it to a pad? i cant assign it to those 4 pads still (pads 9,10,11,12).
i havnt tried to trigger it via a remote source yet, but thats not really my point, i want to be able to use the whole 16 pads, by touching them on the mpc.

binger0: Thanks for the tip, i open it up, wiggeled around the ribbon cable, pulled the ribbon cable out where it is connected to the mainboard, gave it a blow to remove dust, then put it back in, still didnt seem to work

Does this mean i might have to purchase a new sesor pad grid for underneith the rubber buttons? If so are they easy to order? install?
Any other opinions?

sorry, by the way, i can manually use the jog wheel to assign it to these buttons... just cant press them; hence why i defently think its the pads?

yeah i think its the sensors. You can call Forat or VST service. do a search on google for there websites.

You should make the seller pay for it, else get a refund. He obviously sold you a defective MPC.

That replacement may be about 180 USD.

Yo I got a problem with my pads 10 & 11.... I posted on here a few months back asking what I should do....couple manz responded by saying open ya MPC and align the ribbon that lies underneath your drum pads....so I was gonna do that.....then sum other manz said no dont do it coz you might fock up ya machine....

So ive done nothing about it...and I only use 14 of my pads on each bank...which is annoyting at times but I always think 14 pads are better than none...
