stereo sounds = 2 channels

Mono sounds = 1 channel

sounds have to be MONO is you want to send them to one output.

no, you can pan whatever you want to one side of an output. doesnt matter if it's stereo or mono

if it is stereo and you want both sides of the sample to come out of one output, you do have to convert the sample to mono.
