i feel you thou, one time i went to this rave and i had taken some records and my neeldes and slipmats, head lights and all, i always come prepared to spin in any weather or what ever, anyways i asked the gy in charge of the party if i can spin he say yeah of course, he then asked me do you have needles i told yeah he tells me that there waiting for this guy to hook up the system, i told him what i can do that , i said whats playing right now he tells me a CD player,
i hooked ever thing up speakers monitors the complete system tables to the mixer mixer to the reciever(sorry had to throw that in....bomb mc)

anyways i start to mix with my own sht and like 20 phucken dj's come up and tell me that there on the flier and they should be spinin,
i say look did you bring your neeldes cause i dont share mine they said NO i'm suppost to be playing , i said if it wasnt for me you would still be out there listening to that wacked ass CD so i spinn for 20 min and take my sht when i breakin down the last table this dude rolls up with his needles so the moral of the story is how the phuck can you call your self a DJ if you cant hook up a system to play your party, 20 maphuckers and not one could hook up there sht to spin and they didnt even bring there neeldes ma phuckers laughed at me when i rolled in with headlights to hook up there sht, but that party went on till the next day till 8 am in the moring.

down-tempo, jazz, soul, breaks,latin and rare groove stuff
of course i spin alot of dance stuff too
not too much hip hop because its too fickle of a crowd
i cant keep up with the jones on that tip
i spin my personal favorites but i dont go out and buy every single that drops
i try to do it with my hand in the crates

haha, yah, I learned the bring your own needles thing the hard way and a long time ago. So all these newjacks around here never bring theirs and get pissed when I am done with my set and take my needles with me.

I used to play for a rap group and I did this one show once where the dj who was on before me even took off his slipmats!! Luckily I had my needles with me, but I managed to get some slipmats. It's funny because even people that have been dj'ing for a while don't even practice the common courtesy of bringing their own needles. I've pretty much managed to piss off everyone that I've played before.
