How do you find the tempo

give it up man, you're still not making any sense. why would i count for a few min? all i gotta do is get one bar of any sample to loop right and then thats your tempo. if you get the first bar to loop right then the rest of the bars in that sample are going to be the same tempo. just like i put it in my original response, "when it loops right, thats the tempo." its not a difficult concept.

That's great, but why is it you people on here are so quick to respond with these type of things? Either of you got Cubase and can help me with tracking...I posted in the newbie forum and the production technique forum...it would be much appreciated.

Nice, if ur a dj or want just a rough estimated tempo for a song you can count it out, which means you simply count the number of beats for a minute of the song. (And then you get beats/min!) For example: the song is playing, your tapping your foot to the music and you count how many times it taps in one minute. You can use either a digial or a mechanical watch for this. Just be sure it can tell you if a minute has passed or not.

If you want to work on a rhythmic sample in your sequencer, then you'd have to be able to cut the loop to a specific size, for example two beats, or more commonly 1 measure, or two measures, and then load it into your sequencer. Then get cubase to adust its tempo to the sample. For example: you tell cubase, this sample is one measure long adust the tempo to match the sample. Whatever you do don't hit command q as this will quit most aplications. CNT ALT DELETE is also right out. Good luck with it.

Look, I didnt ask this question, I simply stated an alternative if you didnt want to sit there counting...this topic should be closed for discussion...help other people who need it...it's funny this gets 20 replies in 3 days and I had stuff posted for weeks with no replies.

Thanks alot everyone for your help, I just found something useful with in Acid 5 that helps you find the tempo for perfect looping for sampling.
