Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

what is the format of the internal zip drive that comes installed with these mpc 2000xl's?

are they 100 mb or 250 mb? just wondering because i have 100 mb zip discs with samples/songs from my mpc 3000 that i'm selling to get a 2000xl (will 100 mb zip discs work in a 250 mb zip drive?)

Doesn't matter really, as 100MB disks work in a 250.

"as 100MB disks work in a 250"

Not entirely. You cannot format a 100 disk in 250 drive.

That's not true at all. I format 100MB disks all the time in my 250MB drive. In fact, I rarely use 250MB disks as I got a good deal on some 100s on Ebay a few year back - I've never had a single issue formatting them in my 250 drive.

Where did you get that info from? Are you sure you are not thinking about the new 750MB zip drive, which indeed has many issues with 100MB disks.

thanks for the info guys...

whassup butcher, yeah i'm at least going to break even on that mpc 3000.....which means i'm going to buy a 2000xl with the works (internal zip, 8 outs, max memory)

i'm also selling one of my technics turntables, which means i'll have enough money to buy a sound module to use with the mpc...either a motif rack or a virus rack (trying to decide)

I have a 250drive internal installed on 2kxl and I have about 2-5 MPC formatted 100mb disk's that work well. I even have some that are formatted WINXP that I use to transfer files to/from MPC that work well.

whats better, Internal? or External?

I have asked before, but there are no concrete reasons. Some say EXT is faster, but "blowing fuses" is an issue, then some some internal is better, but IDE issues with kits and all. I need something that is fast, simple and easy to install. I would rather not have extra sh!t lying around, but if it is that much faster than internal its worth it. Anyone know?

Best get a SCSI hard drive if you want speed.

I can't remember if it was Tutor or MPC3k that clarified this on a earlier post about 2-3 weeks ago but it had all the pro's and con's on each. But if you wish for speed then yeah, SCSI.

"I format 100MB disks all the time in my 250MB drive"

I was referring by the equipment, not your PC.
