cubase and the mpc

Does anyone work with cubase combined with the mpc. All I want to do, is to load my midifiles and the drumset into cubase. The halion sampler just supports *.fxb but not pgm. I mean its easy to load the midi file but there must be a way to load the drumset. Please help

for god sakes why? it's all happening in the mpc, why make it double duty?

well ist just more comftable to arrange a beat in cubase. I also dont have any hardware effects. So no dely or reverb. I could resample it but that takes ages to get what you really want. The eb 16 is about 250 pound and the effect are not the best I heard. Before I forget I dont hav a synthi. So any solutions???

so there is no way to load the drumset into cubase ??

i still don't understand why one would do this
it just seems like a lot of work (I read your reasoning for doing so, but it still doesn't add up to me)

the sequencer on the mp is as easy as it gets

cubase can't read pgm files so i not sure how else your going to load the
"drumset" from the mp into it

Just play your midi file on Cubase and have it trigger the MPC via midi cable. That way you can edit your midi sequence on the computer, but just leave the sounds in the MPC.

just record separate audio tracks in cubase and add effects and use the scissors to arrange.

Wow thank you very much, that are some good ideas. It´s just that I like to see what I´m doing and for me it´s easier to arrange a complete beat and adding effects is easy in cubase isn´t it. After that I just do a mixdown and have my file ready...

Do I need a special setup in cubase to trigger the sounds or is it just like midi out mpc to midi in soundcard???

"Midi Out" on your computer------>to "Midi In" on the MPC

If all you wanna do is edit your sequences in Cubase, you can save your MPC sequences as Standard Midi Files Type 0 or 1 I forget which one and then open them in Cubase. Make changes and save them as Standard Midi Files. Open them in the MPC and you've got what you want. I do this sometimes with Pro Tools when I wanna make my sequences into longer, more involved compositions. I also like to edit in a computer. I'm either lazy or used to it.

but if I just load the midi file I don´t hear the changes I´m doing. Cubase schows me, that the mpc is connected but it doesn´t trigger any sounds....
