mpc 2000 help please

i just got a mpc 2000 and it boots but the screen stops at mpc 2000 v 1.00 and just freezes there plus the bottom of the lcd stays dark. Also all the buttons light up and stay on and i cant get it to work. I downloaded the latestest version of os from akai , i switched the floppy drive , i cleaned it and checked all contacts , removed and reinserted the 2 memory sticks to to be sure and still nothing. Any help would be great thanks.

i dont think that you can get the lastet 2k OS from akai. i think you can get the 2k'xl', but not the 2k.

is the version you DLed 1.72? if not then that might be the source of your problem.

well even with the old boot disc that the guy gave to me with the system isnt working.

well if your loading verson 1.00 then damn that sounds old...isnt the latest version 1.71 or something?...i maybe thinkin of something else...but sounds like somethings wrong with the os foreal

The latest version is 1.72, AKAI has it in the Archive section here, http://www.akaipro.com/archives.html

it is in the archive section, all downloads for the MPC are available there if they ever had one officially from AKAI

yeah i tried that i think its something else im trying to get a price quote from them to see if its worth fixing or just try to sell and upgrade.
