Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By tundek30 Tue Oct 28, 2003 3:39 am
this is a letter i recently sent to akai, I am not waiting for a response. I know they will respond becaus they did before but anywasy help is the message. Any help from u guys it appreciated

Hi,
I love my mpc and wouldnt trade it for anything else but, I have always wondered why is is that when you loop a drum pattern that was programed, it can only be looped at the beginning of the bar. Why cant the loop be set the way, a sample loop is set. You should be able to set the loop of the program to say 1:03:10, instead of just 1:01:00. Can you guys look in this for the next update. If there is something on the mpc2000xl that does this that i dont know about please tell me

thankyou

pretty sure you can- just havent done it myself- i think you can define which bars the mpc loops essentially allowing you to create intro bars.....

i think its manual time mate....

I know how to loop but how can you loop say in stead of just at the end of beginning of a bar but instead of wherever you chose like 001:10:20.

to repeat myself: i think its manual time mate, ie get the manual out (or download the pdf if you dont have one) and look it up...im sure it can be done but feel it would be just as easy for you to check this, since im at work and this is for you right? so crack open that manual, find the relevant page and digest.....

what about copy and paste?? sometimes i dont even use the song mode in the mpc, i just make like a 90 bar beat with the loop off or make different drum patters and when i multi track into cubase i use the track mutes to bring the different patterns in and out to give it the changes.. if that dont work just sample your drum pattern and do it in the loop screen cause i think if you try it on a programmed drum track, if it is possible cause i dunno, wouldnt all your other tracks be looping at that same point and all your ish i'll sound on some other ish....

"to all who consider themselves mpc pros "

What in the h*** does that title have to do with the thread? Even non-pro's know how to read the manual (It's in there).

it must have a lot more to do with just reading the manual considering that I asked akai if the mpc could do this and they said no. that is why i asked for mpc pros which you guys are evidently not. dont ever speak on things that you do not know about it makes you look and feel stupid. so make sure you write down what i just said okay maybe next time you wont talk out of your arse(so they dont bleep that out-you need to see that since they wont show ass which is what you guys are).

here is the reply that akai sent me for you non pros trying to speak about sh*t you dont know

Hello,

We appreciate your input, I will forward this suggestion to our development team.

The MPC is set up to loop on the bars. Currently, there is no way to make it loop in smaller increments.

well, geez mane, arent you the one getting mad over some thing that YOU DONT KNOW Tundek?....I mean, they were just being polite instead of telling you that it was a stupid fukking question and you should actually try figuring out a workaround instead of polluting the boards and akais mailbox with nonsense.....Next time, if you dont want an ignorant response, try asking a more detailed sensible question...

To each person a "PRO" has a different meaning and then there is the industry definition. Whichever one you refer to is cool with you but don't knock everyone elses hustle cause you didn't get the asnwer that you wanted ya dig. It's a forum and opinions/facts are abundant, soon as you post ANYTHING you set yourself up for an answer.

And if you had any sense about you you would have though about triggering the loop at 1.2.00 or some other tick/bar instead of exactly at the begining. Sounds like you are not the "pro" either homie.

Think before you post and stop acting like a KID spelled backwards

first off never said i was a pro or i wouldnt be asking the **** question. The **** issue with those guys is that they gave an answer to something that they didnt know what the **** they were talking about. so u get it straight dont knock the hustle homie.

Ladies and gentlemen....I think we just found ourselves another Classic Quote of the whatever..... .....like how can you say they dont know what they're talking about if you didnt even know the answer to your own damn question yourself?....I mean, c'mon McFly, think!
By tundek30 Thu Oct 30, 2003 4:14 am
of course i can say they dont know what the **** are talking about i got the goddam right answer from the source. I think akai would be able to give me the right answer. hows them apples u ass.

why would you want to loop a seq not on the bar? just adjust your tempo & bars until you get it where you want. Perhaps your 1 and 3 isn't on the seq 1 and 3 ?
By rickreed Thu Oct 30, 2003 5:03 am
Why would you want to start a loop at 1.03.04 or whatever the hell you said? Give me your reasons for wanting this to happen, I am extremely curious now...especially since you justified the hell out of it.

Thanks!

:D The way i am trying to be able to loop is say for instance you program some drums and when you try to loop it, it is a little off even when you break down the last bar to say 1 beat or whatever to compensate for the space that is left over until the loop starts. And changing the tempo of the beat suxs because then it is no longer the beat that you played- (how much does the tempo sequence have to be slowed down till it is a perfect loop bfeore it sounds even worse). That is not eficient and definetly not practical. Why cant you, when you need it be able to loop a drum program like a sample. :D
When you trim a sample you can loop it at whatever point you want. by allowing you the ability to move the loop points in closer or farther apart like a sample, it makes it easier to make a seamless loop. I am not saying that it is not possible to loop by the bars but it is just that by allowing the movement of the loop points when necessary, it would be easier to get that perfect loop. :D
For instance those who may have used say acid pro or any other sequence software know that it is possible to set loop points where ever you choose. That one of the reasons that I like software but the downside of software is that it pisses me off too much. I still love my mpc but i would like to see this feature. :D
that was all i was trying to do. If you think its a good idea then email [email protected] and let them know whatsup :D
