A good cassette deck is probably the best outboard and tracking tool you can own

Your 1st post and you want to tell us some 1/4" tape is the best tracking tool.

YOU'RE A FU@KING TOOL!!!!!!!!!

If someone doesnt smack this kid...i'll volunteer for the job.

Please describe in detail the look on the engineer's face when you take your precious cassette to the mastering house.

I personally suggest repeating the line I quoted above to him....

a guitarist is all over new and old guitars.. A synth player (keyboardist as you might call them) is obsessed by new and old synths. A writer is obsessed by books. A filmdirector is obsessed by films and books (they should be ;) ) a car pilot is obsessed by cars and wants plenty of them..
So we, producers, are obsessed with all sorts of gear. You may call us gearsluts. I dont care. But thats just human nature. Buying gear is certainly not a bad thing. Buying gear wich u very often use is kinda dumb. If you have the money, spend my friends! .... Otherwise the money will go to car gaz, the ladies, drinks & smokes, ...

tho if you suck at making music or if you do just some lame boring hiphop beats, then ok... you should invest in something else or keep ur cash, whatever..
But if you re good at it and you are enjoying yourself than there is nothing wrong with buying lots of gear

You've got a point there. But you don't necessarily need a whole lot of cars, instruments. Like you said, it's an obsession.

There's a big difference between needs and wants.

Damn, you guys are hostile. I think you're missing his point. What I got from his post is that you don't need a whole lot of fancy stuff in order to be productive and to get great results. All you need is the basics and some talent.

But yeah, I agree, cassettes aren't very practical these days in this digital crazy world.

usually on discussion forums:
some people have attitude problems
some people have ego problems
and some have an inferiority complex

and then you got people just being themselves...

i agree, a tape deck is far from "the best outboard gear you can buy"

everything else in the post is common sense
