Lets talk about sysex

Whats up mpc fam. I'm in the process of creating r&b song and i need to know about sysex....i understand the basics but i need to know if i create different sections of the song I.E. Verse...Chours...Bridge. Could i do one sysex dump for all sections or would i have to dump them all to seprate sequences?

yeah this way you know what it what....though i'm sot sure what u mean by sections.

what i mean by sections is Verse...Chours....Verse....Chours....Bridge...Chours. So i would use an empty sequence for them all.

u still lost me...maybe its because of my understanding of Sysex...what i know of this method is that it allows me to recall up my preferences, eg my sound, vol for each sound effest or what ever program I have made on my rack synth. it allows me to save it to a empty sequence and recall it when ever without me having to save it on the synth it self.

Like my proteus 2000 and micron have this feature, all i do is just play my sysex sequence and loads up all my settings on my synth, this way I aint got to manually load it all up in each of my synths.

so why do u wanna store Verse, Chorus, ETC....,,I'm missing suttin here arnt I?

Yea penfold.. this is why i could never teach cause when it come to explainig things i'm real bad... Okay heres another shot...If create four diffrent sequencs each with there own midi data on them and i want to dump all the data from these sequences, would i use an extra four empty sequences or could i use one empty sequence to dumpand recall everything later...does this help a little better

woah. u dump patch sounds not like seq data. Like say i mess with my synth and make a fat bass patch, i can send that data of all the shit i did on the synth to make that sound to the mpc. then i can just send that data to the synth when i load the mpc so its like right where i left it. The verses and shit like your saying is just seqing data, that the mpc saves and plays back from itself. do a search on sysex thru the forums i have a couple of threads where i had some issues and it should help u out. peac.e

I see what you mean... what you might want to see if you have a BULK SYSEX function this will package the whole thng for you so u can use only one seq.

U using all 16 midi channels? If u aint, 1 dump seq shud be enuff

Organise the way u use channels better an things shud be smooth
